Please see the update below from the Hidden Lane Landfill Site team:
“EPA has completed excavating all contaminated soil in the excavation area and all material has been shipped off-site for disposal at an appropriate landfill. EPA will begin backfilling the week of September 2. Backfilling operations will involve bringing in clean fill material to the site so there will still be increased truck traffic on Persimmon Lane over the next several weeks. EPA will be working on Saturdays throughout the month of September to accelerate project completion.
We thank you all for your patience and continued support. We will continue to share updates with you as the site activities progress. If you have any additional questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us.
On Wednesday and Thursday of this week (7/24 & 7/25), Advantage Landscape will be performing a selective shrub treatment on Winged Euonymus (Burning Bush) shrubs throughout the community. This treatment is to address current mite activity that is causing many of the Burning Bush to drop leaves early.
Please note that this is a targeted application to specific shrubs and not broad covering all shrubs. The product is safe once it dries on contact. With summer temps this can be rather quick within a half hour.
Please contact the Proprietary Office if you have any questions.

EPA has a few updates to share regarding the ongoing excavation project:
We have run into some transportation and disposal delays due to increased laboratory analytical turnaround times required for landfill disposal. Because of this, EPA is anticipating that the project will run through the end of the summer/early fall.
We hope to begin hauling more soil for disposal the week of July 15th. EPA has worked with VDOT to address some of the initial concerns that were raised back in April, to their satisfaction. EPA will continue to work with VDOT by providing hauler route maps and keeping them apprised of the disposal schedule.
It is likely that some of the remaining soil to be disposed of will be sent to different disposal facilities, which may require the use of larger trucks for disposal. Please be advised that those larger trucks may need to exit the site by making a right onto Persimmon Lane and following the route below: Persimmon Lane to Broad Run Drive to Winding Road.

Loudoun County Public Schools has sent out a notice regarding the proposed cellular tower at River Bend Middle School and Dominion High School. We have copied this message below. We will post updates on this situation here. You can also find current information on the LCPS website here.
From LCPS:
“The placement of cell towers/monopoles on LCPS property is guided by School Board Policy and Regulation 6350, Wireless Network Facility Colocation. The School Board will review the active proposals over the coming months.
Today (May 21), the School Board Finance & Operations Committee begins the Board’s review of Milestone Towers’ cellular tower proposals for River Bend Middle School and Dominion High School. Sign-up for public comment at today’s Committee meeting will be in person and required prior to the 4:30 p.m. start of the meeting; today, due to the length of the agenda, public comment will be limited to 10 minutes.
The School Board’s review process will involve several public meetings over the coming months, including a dedicated public hearing on the proposals to place cellular towers at River Bend Middle School and Dominion High School.
On today’s meeting agenda, the Finance & Operations Committee will also review revisions to Policy 6350, Wireless Network Facility Colocation. Should the Committee members agree to the revised wording, Policy 6350 will be posted for comment on the Policy Review webpage on or about Wednesday, May 22, for a two-week period. As part of all policy review, public comment is solicited before action by the full School Board.
Additional information, including information on future meeting dates where the cell tower proposals will be reviewed, can be found on the LCPS webpage (Future School Facilities/Sites) – via the ‘River Bend Middle School Cellular Tower Proposal’ and ‘Dominion High School Cellular Tower Proposal’ links.”
The effective date of the Revised Resolution 233 has been delayed until October 1, 2024; however, the previous version of Resolution 233 will remain in place. As a reminder, this means that:
Use of visitor parking spaces is for visitors, and residents who park a vehicle in a visitor spot in the same neighborhood on any street three (3) times in any thirty (30) day time period is prohibited, and is subject to be towed after being issued a warning sticker.
Additionally, the revised Resolution 234 is in effect, which means that:
Commercial vehicles are still prohibited to be parked overnight on a townhouse street and will be issued a warning sticker that gives 1 day/24 hours’ notice before the vehicle is subject to be towed.
Both Resolutions are currently in place and will be enforced.
Please see the update below from the Hidden Lane Site Team:
“EPA began excavation of the TCE source area the week of February 20th and started stockpiling contaminated soil near the excavation area to prepare for off-site disposal. EPA anticipates that off-site disposal of the non-hazardous contaminated soil will begin in early April. The disposal facility that has been selected is located in eastern Virginia. Trucks leaving the site will travel along Persimmon Lane and McPherson Circle to get to the Algonkian Parkway. From Algonkian Parkway, they will head south towards Route 28. Please see map below for proposed route. “
“Please note that “Trucks Entering Highway” signs have been placed on Persimmon Lane to alert drivers that trucks will be entering and leaving the site throughout the day. EPA has been working with Loudon County Public Schools regarding the school bus schedule and will work with its contractors to minimize disruption during the school bus pick up and drop off times.
Friendly Reminder – We would like to remind the community that the Superfund Site is an active construction zone with many safety hazards and trespassing is NOT permitted. Access into the work zone may result in injury or loss of life. Please adhere to EPA’s instructions and signage.
EPA will continue to provide updates, as needed, as the excavation process continues. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us with any questions or concerns.”
