Please see the update below from the EPA on the Hidden Lane Landfill:
EPA has a few updates to share regarding the ongoing excavation project:
- We have run into some transportation and disposal delays due to increased laboratory analytical turnaround times required for landfill disposal. Because of this, EPA is anticipating that the project will run through the end of the summer/early fall.
- We hope to begin hauling more soil for disposal the week of July 15th. EPA has worked with VDOT to address some of the initial concerns that were raised back in April, to their satisfaction. EPA will continue to work with VDOT by providing hauler route maps and keeping them apprised of the disposal schedule.
- It is likely that some of the remaining soil to be disposed of will be sent to different disposal facilities, which may require the use of larger trucks for disposal. Please be advised that those larger trucks may need to exit the site by making a right onto Persimmon Lane and following the route below: Persimmon Lane to Broad Run Drive to Winding Road.

EPA intends to host a more formal public meeting later this year once the excavation project is complete and before the waterline project begins to share specifics regarding each project.
